Braking performance is not about big brakes but about brake balance or brake bias. Questionable design of Protlum suspension combined with racing brake pads introduced braking issues.
When I upgraded suspension I had no idea about brake balance and how I screwed up factory brake bias. It somehow brake better without too much brake pressure but I had no idea why rear brakes were overheating.
Boy, I whined about small rear brake discs and was looking for large rear vented brakes. Fortunately, I used brain and I didn’t go for 300mm rear vented disc with 312mm front vented brakes it would be disaster.
Still no idea what I do, next logical step was brake pads with higher thermal resistance and it got even worst…but braked better 😉 I even switched off ABS and ESP, not good idea on unbalanced system but I always loved challenge.
Back to square one and studying masters. Finally, I was on something. With some communication problems with Hel Performance brake hoses manufacturer and two orders later I got all I needed.
Tilton proportional valve came from Demon Tweeks guys…thanks !!!
Installation was catastrophe..my estimate of brake hose length was bad and I had to use all hoses I’ve ordered…despite it was not a plan 😀
I’ve a vision of larger brake master cylinder because I don’t like mushy brake pedal. And it will need some changes because it is dangerous and looks like I was drunk (which is not unusual condition on saturday mornings at workshop 🙂 )
