I really like driving properties of factory tuned Skoda Octavia II (1Z3) but there is deadly weakness lurking on rear axle – Eibach Anti-Roll Kit is your friend. I was moaning about it in my first post.
SUMMARY
- noticeable reduced body roll
- it’s stiff even with factory suspension
- easy to install
- Eibach Anti-Roll Kit (product code E40-79-004-01-11; ∅26mm front/∅23mm rear)
WHAT IS STABILISER GOOD FOR?
It is similar to spring or torque/sway bar, which transfers weight from unloaded wheel towards loaded wheel reducing body roll. For more detailed info check out Wiki.
DRIVE EXPERIENCE
Cars stopped to dance and dart out of turns. Noticeable reduced rear body roll. You don’t need ESP 😉 I pushed my car really hard but sway bar did hold rear well. I see limit in suspension and front stabiliser.
Tested with ESP off and pushed hard at low speeds – slip angle of front tires at limit but rear tires follows the front wheels with slight body roll caused by factory suspension.
I wanted to try what would happen if I just install rear stabiliser first. After some tests and experiments I’m going to install front stabiliser as well.
INSTALLATION
It’s very simple and you can do it at home. All you need is lift your car, spline bit set and some spanners. You have to choose how stiff setup you want – outer hole is hard and inner hole is softer setup. Check out gallery for pictures.
WHAT WILL BE NEXT?
Eibach suspension with Powerflex polyurethane bushes.

You write that you have choosen the hard setup but you attached the coupling rod at the outer hole. In my opinion it´s the soft setup as the torsion bar will be twisted less at a given roll angle of the car. Therefore there will be a lower force on the coupling rod. Or am I wrong?

yep, inner hole is hard setup. My mistake….post corrected.
I either wanted to try difference or just couldn’t fit the connecting rod together. It was hard to connect those two at soft (outer hole) setting.
After almost a year…well suspension is limit of every family car. I’ve ordered a new suspension.
