Engine oil temperature issue mentioned in my early post. The most important parameter of your car is the engine oil temperature and it is missing in most cars. Fortunately, modern cars starting to have oil temperature information.
SUMMARY
- Polar FIS+ Advanced
- you don’t need VCDS diagnostic laptop anymore
- great for ECU remapping
- great for car modification and testing
WHY PAY SUCH A LOT OF MONEY?
If you must ask then you don’t need it … PERIOD!!! I bought it for oil temperature reading and ECU remapping. I need to know what my car does during heavy load. It costs nothing compared to critical failure of engine.
Even at highway cruising speed , the engine oil temperature is too high – the oil film starts to break and metal parts start to wear rapidly as seen in my results from oil lab.
Now, I see all I need to know – engine oil temp, EGT/exhaust temp, boost, side G-forces, injection quantity, air flow and so on. Every tuner’s dream.

I bought a second hand 2014 Octavia Model 5E33DD Cambridge two months ago with 81,000 km on the clock from a leasing company. So I assumed it had had regular servicing.I was told that I don’t have to check oil, engine coolant etc. because the car’s computer will tell me when I need to do something.
Suddenly last night the oil temperature appeared on the screen rising steadily from 60 to 70 to 85 degrees. I stopped on level ground. There was no oil leak. I checked the oil level it was low. So I poured some oil in. Not a lot. I let the engine cool down overnight.
This morning, the oil temperature appears on the screen again as steadily rising. I was told that it can go up to a maximum of 110 degrees. What can I do now? Is this a genuine oil glitch or is this a computer glitch? How do I reset the oil monitor on screen with the computer?

VAG engine oil requirements up to 120deg C. My usual temp 90-100deg C – if pushed hard 120C nothing unusual but I run special engine oil. I wouldn’t dare it on poorly maintained car with VAG engine oils.

Hi there,
can i check if you were able to read the oil temp from OBD gauges such as Lufi before you installed the FIS?
I have installed Lufi OBD gauge and am unable to read engine oil temp. Would like to see if i can read it with a FIS installed.
Thanks

Hi, Polar FIS is simple CAN bridge device. It hooks up to CAN bus and reads data available from sensors.
My car has got factory oil temperature sensor and I could get reading via VCDS/VAG-COM or any OBD diagnostic tool.
Looks like your car has no oil temp sensor or Lufi cannot get readings from sensor.
