In the beginning I have used VCDS OBD cable for advanced block logging. Unfortunatelly, it is very slow on my CAN bus – sample rate 3Hz for limited amount of engine data sets.

Vision

I really like Polar FIS+ onboard diagnostic but it cannot log real time data. I have got a vision of simple data logging for some time. After reading book from Craig Smith I had a feeling it may be possible.

After some discusion with fellow car hackers from OpenGarage forums. Someone already managed to do “simple” logging system for his track-day Mazda.
