Decent compromise for winter roads but cannot beat legendary Sava Eskimo S3+. Full specification at manufacturer’s web.
- price around 100€
- durability – second winter and over 10,000km so far. Tires still not worn enough
- tire compound ACC
- possibly best grip in snow for performance winter tires
- decent wet grip but cannot beat Nokian WR D4 in wet
- easily beats in snow any pseudo-winter tire on market
The best high performance winter tire
Since legendary Sava Eskimo doesn’t exist for 17″ wheels and I do not like grilled breaks in mountains. I have been looking for a performance tire replacement. Sadly, there is no real high performance tire for winter.
I have been searching Internet for winter tires with wide slots and decent thread pattern for winter roads. I really like Yokohama because Japanese are the only one understanding balance in nature and deliver consistently better products for same or better price.
Once, you drive Yoko Advan Neova AD08R it is hard to like any tire. Suddenly, every tire feels shit that deforms, twists…you can choose only durability and purpose of your tire. This winter tire is not different, it deforms under load but surprisingly last long so far and I didn’t wrecked them yet.
Not much to write left…it somehow works in snow but it is not Sava but it is also not universal crap like Continental WinterContact…wet performance is very good but it cannot beat Nokian WR D4…simply put it is optimized for usual winter wet roads and those who still drive in snow.
[…] best and only real winter tire on market. Easily outperforms in snow my favorite Yoko BluEarth. If they just made it for 17″ wheels and improved construction. Full specification at […]
